A Step in the Right direction...

So tonight I met up with this guy named Steve. He was FULL of photography knowledge. He owns his own studio here in town and also works for a sports magazine and shoots all the home Panther's games for them. He had some amazing shots! I am so overwhelmed with all that I learned from him. We met up at a Starbuck's here in town and had a 2 1/2 hour tutoring session. We went over everything from ISO, shutter speed, aperture to complex photoshop stuff. Hopefully it all will stick in my brain and I can put some of it to use very soon. I had an e-mail when I got home tonight from a girl who got my name through a friend. She just had a baby and wants me to do a session with her. AHHHH...that is so exciting! I have been wanting to do a newborn session for a long time now. I can put some of the things I learned tonight to use!! As I promised Steve tonight.....no more shooting in AUTO!!! =)

Hey it's great to hear that you have found a mentor of sorts. Best of luck to you. I do have a question for you: have you taken any pictures of Charlotte's skyline yet? I am trying to replicate the image below using Charlotte as the backdrop. I would actually like to make it about three times it's existing width but I guess it depends on what I can find? Any ideas? I am not even sure where you would take such a picture from?

Rock on! I need to google the Presbyterian Hospital then! I am just about to leave the house on a 15mi bike journey over towards Old Providence so maybe it is in that area? At least I won't have to pay if I am on bike... right? We'll see. Thanks for your input too!

I will continue to watch you and your blog develop. I look forward to the results! I am sure it will totally rock! My Dad is a photographer/artist which is part of the reason I am so fond of those who can capture an image in such a way to add additional depth and meaning that others may have missed... I am rambling now. Keep up the good work.

I am not sure if you would be interested or not, but I am working on a project that may help you sell some prints of your work. I have a friend from back in WA that is also a photographer and I am hoping to incorporate some of her work into a couple other projects I want to tackle. You should check out her site, she is super cool: http://marakatti.com/index.html

Take care.
