Hmmm...
So Yesterday I did my first newborn shoot. I loved it! It was so much fun working with a little baby. I also took pics of her big sis who is 5. She was beautiful and full of energy! I did the shoot in their home to make it more comfortable for everyone. I get there and there isn't much natural light in their home and that is the BEST thing to shoot indoors with. I really didn't want to use my flash so I tried really hard to pick up as much light as possible. It just wasn't working. I raised my ISO, I tried lowering my shutter speed but that made for blurry grainy pictures! UGHHHH!! I was so frustrated when I came home and uploaded them. I felt sick! I did get a few good ones, but not enough to make me happy!! I e-mailed the women and explained my situation. I will hopefully be doing a few more photos for her sometime this week. I just know I can do better then that. Here are a few of the good ones I got.

A Step in the Right direction...
So tonight I met up with this guy named Steve. He was FULL of photography knowledge. He owns his own studio here in town and also works for a sports magazine and shoots all the home Panther's games for them. He had some amazing shots! I am so overwhelmed with all that I learned from him. We met up at a Starbuck's here in town and had a 2 1/2 hour tutoring session. We went over everything from ISO, shutter speed, aperture to complex photoshop stuff. Hopefully it all will stick in my brain and I can put some of it to use very soon. I had an e-mail when I got home tonight from a girl who got my name through a friend. She just had a baby and wants me to do a session with her. AHHHH...that is so exciting! I have been wanting to do a newborn session for a long time now. I can put some of the things I learned tonight to use!! As I promised Steve tonight.....no more shooting in AUTO!!! =)

A Little Background

I thought I would let you in on a few things about me. I am 22 years old and have been married to the love of my life for a little over 3 years now. He is a recruiter for the Air Force here in Charlotte, NC. We just moved back here in May of this year from Germany. We were over there for 3 years, and while we were there we had our beautiful baby boy Breyden. He just turned a year old last month. Germany opened up so many travel opportunities that we otherwise probably would have never been able to have. We loved it there but are so glad to be back here in the states close to family.

Starting Out
I have LOVED photography for a very long time now. I have always had a passion for it and thought it was time to turn my hobby into something a little more. I am starting this blog to document my journey from now until my business is up and running. I have done a few photo shoots of friends but I am ready to branch out. I have chosen a name for my business, SimpleXpressions. I am still learning day by day new things that will help me in the future. I am meeting someone new Wednesday night that does Photography tutoring and I am excited to see what I can learn from him. Hopefully A LOT!! =) Stay tuned and see where this experience takes me.
